Russian Paper on Case of U.S. Armed Spy Ship Captured by KPA 44 Years Ago
Pyongyang, February 3 (KCNA) -- The Russian paper Patriot carried in its fourth issue an article 44 years after the U.S. imperialist armed spy ship Pueblo was captured by the Korean People's Army.

On Jan. 23, 1968 the KPA Navy captured this ship which was committing espionage after intruding into the territorial waters of the DPRK, the article said, and went on:

The U.S. asserted that Pueblo neither intruded into the DPRK's territorial waters nor violated international laws and, at the same time, demanded that the DPRK send back the captured ship and its crewmen immediately and make an "apology".

The DPRK opened to the public material evidence including the testimonies of the captain and crewmen of the ship that it intruded into the territorial waters of the DPRK for spying.

As things did not go just as desired, the U.S. revealed its scheme to ignite a new war while concentrating vast aggression armed forces around the Korean Peninsula.

President Kim Il Sung solemnly declared that the DPRK does not want a war but is never afraid of it and the Korean people and army would return retaliation for the U.S. "retaliation" and all-out war for all-out war.

After all, the U.S. admitted and apologized for the espionage acts by Pueblo and presented the DPRK government with a written apology earnestly pleading for leniency to its crewmen.

This was the first written apology of the U.S. in its history.
